Stretch marks

Stretch marks, also known as striae, are a type of scarring that occurs on the skin when the dermis is stretched, leading to the tearing of collagen and elastin fibres. They often develop during periods of rapid growth or significant weight changes. While both men and women can experience stretch marks, women are particularly prone to them, especially during pregnancy due to hormonal shifts. Initially, stretch marks may appear as red or purple lines, eventually fading to white or silver over time.
